You know, I try very hard to be very open when it comes to people wanting to share my artwork. The only things I've ever asked for are...

That the person ask my permission and credit me, or, at the very least just credit me.

But some people find those requests too demanding and will go to great troubles to ignore it.

Life in the Fail Lane: Oh What A Lazy Web We Weave

This incident was brought to my attention via a note from my friend, unconventionalsenshi. She and I really enjoy Male Seiya and Usagi as a couple, and have drawn many cute images of them to show our appreciation of this often disregarded couple.

So, naturally, she called my attention to this.

Take a look at this image of mine. Notice anything missing?

seiya-dj-supersinger.tumblr.co…

How about we look at my original image?

fav.me/d2cr37h

Now do you notice anything missing?

That's right! My signature has been smudged away! Apparently, this person was ept and able enough to use the smudge tool in PhotoShop, but too inept and lazy to actually draw something.

How sad does this person's life have to be when the only artistic thing they can do is smudge a signature away in PhotoShop?

I actually feel bad for this person. Because if that's the scope of their creative abilities, I weep for this person's future...

And apparently I'm not the only victim here. Pretty much everyone who's drawn Seiya/Usagi and Minako/Yaten are being ripped off, and this person keeps carefully smudging away their signatures. unconventionalsenshi.deviantar…

If you have a Tumblr and can report this, you have my permission. I'm sure every other victim will also appreciate your help. Or, if you could at least raise awareness of this, that's always helpful. Thanks in advance if you can help in any way.

EDIT: And the image, along with some of the other ones, has been removed. Thanks a bunch to BlueKazenate for helping me get it taken down. :la:

And now, as if to add insult to injury, the little thief is claiming that she never intended to steal the images. If that were true, why'd she remove the signatures? Come on now! It's obvious she's only saying this because she got caught and was busted for it.

Until next time...

Is that person seriously trying to justify art theft?

It's quite ridiculous.

Tumblr is a really big cesspool of art theft, sadly. What's worse is that she probably put that little disclaimer there (like almost every other person on tumblr has on their page), just so she thinks she'll be in the right to continue doing the crap she's doing, not just to apologize for being caught. I always make an effort to link back to the artist on a piece of art if it comes across my dashboard, and if I try to post anything I make sure I ask the artist first and give them complete credit in nice big bold letters. It's sad other people still think they can get away with crap like this though.

Usually when people share my art, they make sure they credit me. But this person clearly couldn't be bothered to simply do that.

Ugh.. I hate it when people do this kind of thing.

Then when you call them out for it they start screaming either "J00R S00 M34N ASDF!!!1" or "If you didn't want it stolen, don't post it."

I just want to smack those people...

I know. It's like, I'm fine with people wanting to share my stuff. Just credit me with what I'm due. That's all I ask.
