Description

Okay... I needed to draw something Religious. So, I decided to draw one of my favorite saints of all time; Saint Anthony of Padua.

He was born of a rich family, but decided to give his wealth to the poor and become a Franciscan. Many miracles took place while he was living.

One of his most famous miracles was; one day, saint Anthony met a man who didn't believe in God. So, the man said to Anthony, "I'll believe in your God if you can prove he exists in the church. Bring some of that bread you offer at Mass." And Anthony complied.

So, Anthony brought the Holy Eucharist (the bread that becomes Christ's body) wrapped in holy linens to the town square. Everyone in the town watched in confusion as the man presented his donkey to Anthony. He had starved it for three whole days, and it looked frail, making Anthony look with sympathy upon it.

The man, then, presented the donkey food, and started coaxing it towards him. "Come and eat your food boy." He said. then, Anthony held the host outward, still consealed in the linen, and said to the donkey, "Come and worship your Lord donkey."

The donkey crawled over to Anthony on his knees. then, once it was close enough, it bowed its head and worshipped.

He was kind and gentle, and gave wonderful sermons.

One day, while in his room doing his duties, baby Jesus appeared, floated down atop Anthony's book, wrapped his small arms around Anthony and gave him a kiss, telling him how proud he was of his humble servant.

Anthony died when he was 36 of illness. It was the year 1231.

Years after his death, researchers dug up his grave for examination of his body. All his flesh and bones had dissolved over time, but his tongue was preserved, still as red and flesh as a live one, and perfectly intact.

He is the patron saint of many things, but he's best known as being the patron saint of lost items. And whenever I lose something, I ask him to help me find it. It works.

His feast day is June 13, the same day he died on.

Enjoy. =D
