I love Jane Eyre.
It's one of my favorite books of all time, and I've seen almost every film version of it... yes, I love it THAT much.
But there are two versions which I hold in higher esteem than the others... not that the others are necessarily bad, mind you. But these two versions were the first ones I saw as a teen, and were - in my opinion - the best interpretations.
The first one is the 1983 version, which is the closest to the book in terms of storyline and dialogue.
And the other is the 1997 version, which depicts the most accurate Jane and Edward I've ever seen.
Seriously, when I watch the '97 version, I don't see two actors playing the characters... I see Jane and Edward. The two just fit the parts so well. Jane's charm and naivety make her so demure and sweet, and Edward's passion and bitterness make him so tragic and complex.
So, I was watching it again recently, and I got inspired to draw a picture.
This scene is based on the proposal scene, which is one of my favorite scenes in the film. [link]
So, yeah... enjoy!
I'm very happy with how this turned out, and am quite proud of this image.
